Usually I can
see where they’re coming from a cynical
marketing perspective.
But now I’m convinced.

Interesting that they think “sedan” has any marketing appeal these days.

We’ve got 4 door coupes.
We’ve got hatchback crossovers.
We’ve got shooting brake wagons.
Now we’ve got sliding door sedans.
If my Civic self-identifies as a monster truck, is that now allowed?

If MOPAR can do it why not you?
“Isn’t it just a Dodge Neon underneath?”
“ EPA says it is a Truck. It is a truck”

TBH it sounds better than "overpriced Sprinter"

I’m a bit surprised it’s not called a CUV.

Also the V-Class isn’t sold in America, which is the only place where the word sedan has any meaning. In Europe they’re known as saloons, or limos.

Don’t we get it here as the M etris? https://www.mbvans.com/en/metris/2020-passenger-van
Doesn’t really change your point though, since this is not a Metris ad.

Americans get the Mercedes-Benz Vito as the Metris , which are your barebones panel vans and shuttle buses, but they don’t get the V-Class, which is the luxury version sold alongside Mercedes’ s passenger cars with a “- Class” name.

Psst, the V-Class is based on the Vito/Metris.

To his credit, the new Sprinter is now based on the Metris

TBH I always forget the Metris isn't exactly the same as a Sprinter with a lower roof

I can always see where they’re coming from a marketing perspective: misleading people into believing something is something it isn’t is the foundation of what marketing is.
